Paul Oakenfold Information
Paul Mark Oakenfold (August 30, 1963) is an English record producer, actor, remixer, chef, and trance DJ from Mile End, London. He is also known as Perfecto Allstarz, Planet Perfecto, RiseVirus, Wild Colour, Bunkka Electra Elementfour Perfecto, and Perfecto Records. His music is classified as trance, acid house, electronica, dance-pop, film score, and rock. Oakenfold went to Archbishop Lanfranc School in Highbury, Greenhithe, and later worked at the Army and Navy Club. He also studied for four years to be a chef.
Oakenfold began his official musical career in the late 1970s after meeting Trevor Fun. He started to help him DJ soul music in a wine bar named Covent Garden. In London, Oakenfold also met Rumours and played Earth, Wind, and Fire along with other famous British bands. He moved to NYC in 1981 and began working as a courier.
Oakenfold returned to London and signed DJ Jazzy Jeff, Salt-n-Pepa, and the Fresh Prince. He has appeared on the Blue Peter BBC program and became a promoter and British agent for Run-D.M.C and Beastie Boys. Bunkka was the first studio album he released in 2002. It was followed by A Lively Mind (2006) and Trance Mission (2014). He also appeared in a few shows such as 2003 Dancestar USA 2003 and 2002 The Rules of Attraction.
Oakenfold earned many nominations from various awards such as Grammy (2007, 2010), IDMA awards, and World Music Awards. He won the DJ Awards twice and DJ Magazine Award once in 1998.
