Parker Millsap is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter from Purcell, Oklahoma, who performs a mix of blues, country, rock, folk, and Americana music. He grew up in a Pentecostal church and listened to blues with his parents influenced his musical taste. Millsap's musical approach has been compared to early Elvis Presley when he performed alongside childhood friend Michael Rose on bass and Daniel Foulks on violin.
Millsap has opened for Patty Griffin, Old Crow Medicine Show, Shovels & Rope, Lake Street Dive, John Fullbright, Jason Isbell, and Sarah Jarosz, among others, and is a devotee of Elton John. Millsap has appeared on Conan and Austin City Limits, among other shows. Following his self-titled album, Millsap was awarded one of the Americana Music Association's 2014 Emerging Artists of the Year. His song "Truck Stop Gospel," which was aired on NPR's music show The Record, helped him gain prominence.
Millsap has five studio albums to his credit. No Depression named his 2016 album The Very Last Day the 11th best roots album of the year. Other Arrangements, his fourth album, was released on May 4, 2018. Other Arrangements is his first release to use electric instruments and has a more blues, rock, and pop-focused sound than his prior work. Be Here Instead, Millsap's fifth album was released on April 9, 2021.
