Orlando Philharmonic Information
Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra is known as Central Florida's resident professional orchestra, founded in 1993. It is composed of accomplished musicians that were hired from around the world. The orchestra appears in 125+ performances every season. The orchestra's primary mission is to foster and promote symphonic music with the help of education, excellence in performance, and cultural leadership.
Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra has the largest endowment of any arts institution in central Florida. The orchestra is well-known for presenting many different programming types such as the Super Series, the pop series, the classical series, and a few more. All these series featured music from popular music, the cinema, and Broadway musicals; all performed at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre (Orlando).
Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra also performs several chamber music concerts every year. The concerts take place at The Plaza Live Theatre in Orlando. The Sounds of Summer Series is the summer version of the series held during June, July, and August. After the Orlando Opera was closed in 2009, it became the Philharmonic's responsibility to keep opera alive in the central Florida community.
The Philharmonic is also known for starting many community collaborations. It has partnered with the Florida Young Artists Orchestra, the Orlando Opera, Orlando Ballet, the Orlando Science Center, Bethune-Cookman University, Mad Cow Theatre, and the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park.
