Origami Angel Information
Origami Angel is an American rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Pat Doherty (drums) and Ryland Heagy (bass, vocals, and guitar). The two first crossed paths in late 2015, following a gig at Archie Edwards' Barbershop in Washington, DC, where Heagy and a buddy had requested Doherty to join their band Idle Empire, to which Doherty had enthusiastically agreed. After the demise of Idle Empire, Heagy and Doherty got back together to form Origami Angel, and Chatterbot Records released their debut EP, named Quiet Hours. In 2018, the band released another EP titled Doing The Most. The group's 2019 EP, dubbed Gen 3, is based on the Pokémon franchise.
Somewhere City, Origami Angel's first proper full-length album, was released on November 15, 2019, to universal acclaim. The album was given a 7.0 on Pitchfork, which is considered a positive review. The band announced their second studio double album, Gami Gang, on March 25, 2021, and the lead song, "Neutrogena Spektor," was released the following day. April 30, 2021, the release of Gami Gang on Counter Intuitive Records was met with praise similar to that of Somewhere City; music critic Pitchfork gave the album a 7.3.
