Orchestra Noir is an African American group of musicians founded to highlight African music successes and pioneers in all types of music, including classical and current genres such as hip-hop and jazz. Seeking to always draw younger audiences to symphonic music and its possibilities, it has quickly become one of the most sought-after and talked-about orchestras in the U.S.
In 2016, the renowned Music Director Jason Ikeem Rodgers launched Orchestra Noir. Rodgers, who began his professional career as John Mauceri's apprentice with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, has since collaborated with top orchestras across the nation. His international recognition was solidified when he was honored with the title of champion at the International Conducting Competition.
The orchestra has worked with companies like Atlantic Records and NBC Universal, performed nationally at events like The Tonight Show, which starred Jimmy Fallon, and been highlighted on networks like BET, the OWN Network, and others. Among the artists the orchestra has worked with include Cardi B, 2Chainz, Clifford "T.I. Harris," and others. In 2018, Atlanta Magazine honored the orchestra with the "Best of Atlanta: Classical Meets Contemporary" award.
