2005, Sim began his musical career by joining the indie rock band The xx. Romy Croft, guitarist/vocalist, and Sim, bassist/bassist, met in high school and started a band. Baria Qureshi joined later on bass and vocals, and Jamie Smith contributed beats to the production. Their 2009 self-titled debut album was well-received. Album-wise, it reached No. 3 in the UK and topped the charts in the US, NZ, and Ireland. The success of their subsequent two albums increased.
Five separate countries saw I See You, from 2017, as their top album of the year. Songs like "Angels" and "On Hold" by Sim and The xx reached No. 3 and No. 2 on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles charts. Sim's band has been so well-liked that they have been nominated for and won multiple accolades. They have received numerous accolades, including the 2009 Rober Award for Breakthrough Artist and the 2010 Mercury Prize for Album of the Year.
