Nikki Lane Information
Nikki Lane (October 17, 1973) is an American singer, songwriter, and artist born in Greenville, South Carolina. She dropped out of high school, and, for a time, Lane worked as a fashion designer before moving to Los Angeles and later to New York City. She went through an emotional incident that inspired her to begin writing country songs. Lane now lives in Nashville, owning and operating a clothing store named “High Class Hillbilly.”
Lane released her debut album entitled “Walk of Shame” on September 27, 2011, under Iamsound Records. She co-wrote the song entitled “Gone, Gone, Gone” with the producer of Lewis Pesacov of Fool’s Gold. On May 6, 2014, Lane released her second studio album entitled “All or Nothin’.” The album was released on the record label New West Records. Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys produced the album.
Nikki Lane continued working on new projects over time. On February 17, 2017, her third studio album came out entitled “Highway Queen.” The album was recorded near Dallas, Texas, at The Echo Lab. Her sound is often compared to Wanda Jackson and the sound of the early albums by Neko Case. Lane has also been referred to as the First Lady of Outlaw Country.
The Americana Music Association nominated Lane in 2015 for “Emerging Artist of the Year.” In 2017, she won the Ameripolitan Music Awards for “Outlaw Country Female.”
