Murs Information
Nicholas Neil Carter (March 16, 1978) is an American rapper. He is professionally known by his stage name, Murs. He was born in Los Angeles, California. With fellow Alexander Hamilton High School students Scarub and Eligh, Murs formed 3 Melancholy Gypsys. Mystik Journeymen became acquainted with the band, and they joined the Living Legends collective in 1996. In 1997, Veritech released his first solo album, F'Real.
Murs has been a member of the band Felt since 2002, alongside Slug. His debut album on Definitive Jux, The End of the Beginning, was released in 2003. In 2004, Murs released Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition, an album produced entirely by 9th Wonder. Murs secured a contract with Warner Bros. in 2006 after another collaboration album with 9th Wonder, Murray's Revenge, and his debut album for the label was Murs for President. Sweet Lord, which was given away for free to supporters, came before it.
In 2011, Murs released Varsity Blues 2, a follow-up to his Varsity Blues EP, with Aesop Rock, Terrace Martin, and Droop-E handling production duties. In 2012, he released This Generation, a collaboration with Fashawn. Murs got signed to Tech N9ne's record label Strange Music on February 7, 2014, as reported on his Facebook page. Later that year, he released his first release on the label, the Mursday album, with Strange Music members Mayday!
