Moonshiner Collective is the eclectic musical project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dan Curcio, located in San Luis Obispo, California. The name comes from when Curcio was living in a yurt above the Pacific Ocean in the sleepy California beach town of Cayucos and performing music with friends under the moon and stars.
Located on a large hillside, it served as a gathering spot for local musicians and those traveling through town who needed a place to spend the night. Curcio wanted to create a musical project that could draw from various talents and influences. At the same time, remaining rooted in his distinctively soulful and upbeat brand of folk rock music, and he was inspired to do so by the powerful communal vibe and spirit of the yurt property jam sessions.
Curcio's notably warm and soulful voice and introspective lyrics have always been the unifying thread of Moonshiner Collective songs, even as the instrumentation, styles, and sounds continue to change.
