Mohammad Assaf (September 1, 1989) is a Palestinian pop singer born in Misrata, Libya. Assaf has become a household name throughout the Arab world and among his fellow Palestinians in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the diaspora, thanks to his renditions of famous Arabic love songs and patriotic anthems supporting the Palestinian cause. He performs for family, friends, and fellow Palestinians on Friday nights in Beirut.
During one of the live broadcasts of Arab Idol, Mohammed Assaf sang "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys in English. Many of Mohammed Assaf's overseas tours have sold out crowds all around the Arab world and among the Arab diaspora. He has put out a slew of music videos, and in 2014, his song "Yalla Yalla" was featured at the FIFA World Cup celebrations. Several of the singles he recorded with others went on to become huge hits.
Featuring the Cuban reggaeton band Gente de Zona, his 2017 smash "Baddek Enayah" (in Arabic ) went viral. He also recorded the Arabic-French duet "Rani" with French Algerian ra singer Faudel in 2017 and the single "Roll with It" with Lebanese-Canadian artist Massari in 2018.
