Melissa Etheridge (May 29, 1961) is an American guitarist, musician, singer, and songwriter born in Leavenworth, Kansas. Her critically acclaimed 1993 album, Yes I Am, was her big break in the music industry. "Come to My Window" garnered Melody's second Grammy Award, while "I'm the Only One" and "If I Wanted To" both made it into the US Top 40. Yes I Am was her best-selling album up to that point, spending 138 weeks on the Billboard 200 and reaching a high of No. 15. It was certified 6×Platinum by the RIAA.
Etheridge has, over the years, produced numerous hit records, including Your Little Secret and The Medicine Show. She is also recognized as an advocate of LGBTQ+ rights and open sexuality. Back in 2007, she won an Academy Award for Best Original Song with her amazing track "I Need to Wake Up," which was featured in the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."
In 2025, Etheridge tours again. She is touring with Indigo Girls as part of the Yes We Are tour. The tour begins at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on July 25. It is going to visit more than 30 cities, including Utah and California. Before that, she will embark on solo tours in Europe and the United States. The fans are looking forward to an entire year of new songs and concerts.
