Megan Jovon Ruth Pete (February 15, 1995), better known as Megan Thee Stallion, is an American rapper born in San Antonio, Texas. She initially gained fame because the freestyle videos she posted on Instagram became viral. After signing with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018, her singles "Hot Girl Summer" and "Cash Shit" (which was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA) helped her break into the mainstream the following year. She was an immediate success because of her audacious style and catchy music.
She began posting her music on social media, and soon people could not help but hear her distinctive voice. As she became more popular, she collaborated with major artists such as Beyonce, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and this has exposed her to more fans.
Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper, shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July 2020 in Los Angeles's Hollywood Hills district. Her first album, Good News, heavily included the shooting as a theme. Lanez was found guilty on all charges related to the assault on her in December 2022. Following the shooting trial and an extended legal battle with her record company, Megan Thee Stallion decided in 2023 to pursue a career as an independent musician. It split ways with 1501 and 300 Entertainment.
On April 25, 2025, she dropped a new track titled “Whenever” and fans are loving it. She is also preparing to appear at the Coachella Festival in April, where she will also be singing with other massive artists such as Post Malone and Zedd. The fans are eager to attend her live concerts and listen to more of her new songs this year.
