McLusky Information
Mclusky is a Welsh post-hardcore band consisting of Damien Sayell, Jack Egglestone, and Andrew Falkous. The band claims that in 1996, Falkous and Harding met at their local bar, the Blackwood Miners Institute, and from there, the band was born. Shortly on, the two ran into Chapple at the Reading Festival when they discovered the latter urinating on their tent.
It has been more credibly postulated that Falkous and Harding met while employed at the same Cardiff double-glazing contact center called Anglian Windows. Following a talk about the Reading Festival, Falkous brought Harding a recording of songs he had written on his own, and the two quickly established a band they named Best after early Beatles drummer Pete Best. Bassist Geraint Bevan was an old musical comrade of Harding's from the band The Derelicts.
Almost a year passed in this incarnation of Best before Bevan decided to focus on his acting career, but only after Best performed alongside the band Myrtle, in whom Jon Chapple played bass, at a local venue. After changing their name to Mclusky in 1999, the band released their debut studio album, My Pain and Sadness is More Sad and Painful Than Yours, 2000 on the Fuzzbox imprint. Their follow-up, 2002's Mclusky Do Dallas, received widespread critical acclaim.
