Mattiel Information
Atlanta's own Mattiel Brown serves as the band's lead vocalist, and Jonah Swilley handles production duties. Mattiel (2017), Satis Factory (2019), and Georgia Gothic (March 2022) are their three full-length studio albums, and two EPs, Double Cover (2020) and Those Words (2022) are their two singles (2021). In the United Kingdom and Europe, the records were issued by Heavenly Recordings. In the United States, they were released by ATO Records (except for Mattiel, which Burger Records in the US released).
Jack White is a huge fan of the band and has promoted them by taking them on a tour of American arenas. Brown's "gorgeously longing, full-voiced alto range" was compared by Rolling Stone to Nico's. The Guardian, Q, Mojo, DIY, Uncut, and The Times all gave the sophomore record, Satis Factory, four stars, and it was named Album of the Weekend on the BBC Radio 1 Hype Chart and Album of the Day on BBC Radio 6. It was also announced that Mattiel would be featured as WXPN's Artist of the Month for October.
In addition to being featured in The BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Mattiel had also appeared on Later... with Jools Holland and Last Call with Carson Daly. 1970s middle eastern gothic influences influenced their most recent music video for the song Blood in the Yolk, and most of their live performances can be found on their YouTube account.
