Martin Sexton Information
Martin Sexton is an American music producer, singer, and songwriter from Syracuse, New York. His music is classified as rock, folk, Americana, and blue-eyed soul. Sexton got his first guitar at 14. He moved to Boston in 1988 and started to play on street corners and open mic nights. In 1991, Sexton released a collection of self-produced demo recordings entitled In The Journey. It was released on an 8-track cassette, and 15,000 copies were sold.
In 1998, Sexton released a studio album entitled The American. Another album followed entitled Wonder Bar in 2000. Sexton launched an independent record label in 2001 named Kitchen Table Records. On this label, he released a concert album entitled Live Wide Open. Seeds was another album released in 2007.
Some of his other notable studio albums include 2008 – Solo and 2010 – Sugarcoating. Sexton also released an EP entitled Fall Like Rain in 2012. He released a mixtape entitled Mixtape of the Open Road in 2015. These discographies were all released on Kitchen Table records.
Some other contributions by Sexton include Live & Direct – Volume 3, (2001) – "Where Did I Go Wrong"; Live at the World Café - Volume 9 (1999) – "The American"; and Live & Direct – Volume 1, (1999) – "The American." In 1994, Sexton earned the National Academy of Songwriters Artist of the Year Award.
