Midwestern "fall, get up, dust off, and do it again" grit is what Marc Lee Shannon, a Rustbelt composer from Ohio's "North Coast," has been bringing to his music for years. His music is full of heart and melody, telling the stories of the oppressed, the uplifted, the abandoned, and the saved.
Shannon, a studio and touring guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with a career spanning more than 30 years, has lived in Akron, Ohio, and Los Angeles, California. After dropping out of high school at 19, he enrolled in the Guitar Institute of Hollywood and soon performed with various famous country, rock, and soul singers.
Shannon has finally returned home to begin a new chapter in his career after 11 years of touring, recording, and performing on the road. A mutual friend introduced him to Michael Stanley, a local hero in northeast Ohio, and the two began a musical connection that would last decades.
Shannon joined Stanley's band, The Resonators, one of Ohio's most popular acts, after he played on Stanley's 1996 album Coming Up for Air. He toured and recorded with the band for almost 25 years, playing electric, acoustic, baritone, and 12-string guitar and mandolin across 22 studio albums and countless live performances. In return, Stanley produced Any Ordinary Man, Shannon's 2007 debut as a solo artist.
