Malayanah Elise Cordova (July 4, 2000) is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper. She grew up in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. She grew up listening to Steel Pulse and Barrington Levy's vintage reggae, as well as Teena Marie and Rick James' old school funk. Still, she was fully embraced by both old and new school rap music, and at the age of 12, she began penning lyrics and covertly rapping in her bathroom mirror. At the Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts High School in Downtown Los Angeles, she studied classical music. She got training, in theory, sight-reading, technical studies, history, and performance.
Malayanah's academy was mainly oriented on classical music; she would perform her creative music at family gatherings outside of school. She scheduled her first gig at the age of 16 at a small club in Downtown Los Angeles, performing some of her original compositions. Malaynah sang a freestyle over Cardi B's popular single "Money" in late 2018, which went viral with over 12 million views when Cardi B reposted it on her Instagram page. Malaynah has continued to write songs, record, and perform since then. Her ambition is to use her lyrics to share stories around the world, put Boyle Heights on the map, and cooperate with the best in the industry.
