The Atlanta-based band started during the summer of its members' attempts to break free of the monotony of life at a Catholic high school. As a result of their sound, a new musical subgenre known as "pool rock" emerged, fusing elements such as pop-funk grooves, ethereal melodies, and wavy chord progressions. In 2017, when most band members were in their junior year of high school, the EP Swell was published.
They proved they weren't a one-hit wonder with the 2018 release of their second studio album, Artificial Flavors. Repasky's soothing voice makes even the most gloomy subject matter in songs like "Sleepy Couch," "Slowdown," "Daytime," and "Unlucky" easy to listen to.
