Low - Band Information
Low is an American indie rock band. The group’s current lineup consists of Mimi Parker (vocals, drums, and percussion) and Alan Sparhawk (vocals and guitars). The band was formed in the spring of 1993. They have been playing the Superior, Wisconsin band, Zen Identity. Low released its debut studio album entitled I Could Live in Hope on December 2, 1994. The album was released through Virgin Records’ Vernon Yard imprint. The album featured Nichols on bass.
Low is known for its impressive live performances among its fans. The band often performs cover versions of hit songs by The Smiths and Joy Division. Their song “Point of Disgust” was featured in Skins’ popular show on March 24, 2008. In March 2012, Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel chose Low, who wanted the band to perform at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Minehead, England.
One of the Low songs entitled “Blue Christmas” was featured as part of the soundtrack to season 4 and episode 7 of HBO’s Eastbound & Down in November 2013. Their song “Dancing and Blood” was also featured in season 3 and episode 6 of the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why.
Other studio albums released by Low include The Curtain Hits the Cast (1996), Secret Name (1999), Things We Lost in the Fire (January 22, 2001), Trust (October 1, 2002), The Great Destroyer (January 25, 2005), Drums an., The Invisible Why (2013), and Ones and Sixes (September 11, 2015).
