Lincoln Trio Information
The Lincoln Trio is a piano trio that was founded in 2003 and originated from Chicago, IL. The trio consists of Desirée Ruhstrat on violin, Marta Aznavoorian on piano, and David Cunliffe on cello. The group’s name was taken from the state where the trio members were based, Illinois, which is nicknamed the Land of Lincoln. The trio has made many notable appearances since they started their career, including Alice Tully Hall, Ravinia Festival, Carnegie Hall, Poisson Rouge, LOCMA, and many more.
The Lincoln Trio also performed in Springfield, Illinois, where the tour was on behalf of the Ravinia Festival. The event culminated in the celebration with President Barack Obama regarding the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial. The group has toured throughout Colombia, Asia, and Germany and have recorded extensively for the record label the Cedille Record and Naxos.
The Lincoln Trio earned a Grammy Award nomination in 2014 for their work on “Annelies” by James Whitbourn. The trio also received the Young Performers Career Advancement Award in 2011 and won the Master Players International Competition in 2008, which took place in Venice, Italy.
