Lemon Bucket Orkestra Information
From Toronto, Ontario, Canada, comes the "Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk-Super Band," known as the Lemon Bucket Orkestra. Mark Marczyk, Oskar Lambarri, Alex Nahirny, Jaash Singh, Stephania Woloshyn, Michael Louis Johnson, James McKie, Julian Selody, Nathan Dell-Vandenberg, Ian Tulloch, and Marichka Marczyk make up the current lineup.
After relocating to Toronto from Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2009, founding member Mark Marczyk reconnected with Michael Louis Johnson, a bartender and musician. Marczyk was first exposed to the Gypsy-punk outfit Worldly Savages via Johnson. Fiddler Marczyk joined the group. Musicians like Tangi Ropars and Os Kar, who would later become Savages members, met at the band's after-show gatherings.
On their way to Romania for a three-week tour, The Lemon Bucket Orkestra presented an impromptu concert on a delayed Air Canada flight in 2012, garnering media attention from outlets like CNN, CBC, Fox News, and CTV. The band played Romania as an opening act for Taraf de Hadouks. The band performed again on the delayed Air Canada aircraft back to Canada in Germany and then again upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The group dropped their debut LP, Lume, Lume, in late 2012. The album was compared to "a traveling musical caravan burning wildly across the night sky" by Alan Cross. In promoting the record, they set out on a European tour in November of the following year.
