Ledisi Information
Ledisi Anibade Young (March 28, 1972) is an American author, actress, music producer, songwriter, and recording artist. She is professionally known as Ledisi. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. With a bonus track featuring Grammy Award Winner Meshell Ndegeocello on bass, Ledisi re-released her debut album, Soulsinger: The Revival, 2002, under Tommy Boy Records. The California Music Awards' "Outstanding Jazz Album" went to Ledisi's second studio album, Feeling Orange but Sometimes Blue.
Listen Back Entertainment released Ledisi Live at The Troubadour, her ninth studio album, on April 30, 2021. It was her first live album. This album was Ledisi's second release under her new label. Ledisi released Ledisi Sings Nina on July 23, 2021, following her live appearance at the BBC Prom 45 Mississippi Goddam (A Homage to Nina Simone) on August 21, 2019. Nina Simone is being honored through this endeavor.
With Ledisi on stage are Jules Buckley's Metropole Orkest and Adonis Rose's New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Alice Smith, Lizz Wright, and Grammy winner Lisa Fischer are also included on this album. This was the eleventh studio album that Ledisi has released and the third in nearly a year on her label. At the Gershwin Prize event at the Library of Congress on March 1, 2023, Ledisi and Herbie Hancock sang "River" in tribute to Joni Mitchell.
