Las Vegas Philharmonic Information
The Las Vegas Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The orchestra was founded in 1998 by Laurette Harold Leighton Weller (a Music Director and Conductor), Susan Tompkins (known as a long-time Las Vegas arts supporter), and Andrew Tompkins. The Las Vegas Philharmonic has been based at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts since October 2012. The Las Vegas Philharmonic is dedicated to inspiring a lifelong appreciation of the music through engaging performances and spreading educational experiences based on music for the community that is being enhanced.
After Harold Leighton Weller retired from his principal conductor responsibilities when David Itkin took his place in 2007-2014, and, in 2014, Itkin retired. Since then, Donato Cabrera has been performing his duties as principal conductors for the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Some of the most polished musicians who are part of the orchestra include Martha Gronemeier, Shakeh Ghoukasian, Kevork Mikaelian, and Marty Connally.
