It has been said that Wetzel himself calls the fusion of rock and country that defines his music "Hillbilly Punk-Rock," a term that he might or might not have invented. Wetzel grew up hearing everything from country to hip-hop to rap to grunge, including Nirvana.
Wetzel defined his album Harold Saul High as "90s country crosses early 2000s punk rock with early '90s rock and hip-hop tracks in the background" in an interview with American Songwriter.

His live performances are famous for their energetic and cultural environment, and his music is known for touching listeners on a deep emotional level.
