Kelsey Karter (August 1, 1991) is a New Zealand-based singer and songwriter. After her family relocated to Australia, adolescent Kelsy Karter split her formative years between Australia and the USA. She was "born into a family of jazz musicians" and started writing songs when she was 16. She relocated to Hollywood in 2012 to seek a career in the performing arts. She recently moved in with her John Lennon-named canine, Lennon. She likes to spend her free time playing cards and making dinner for her family and friends.
Released in 2015, "Children Of My Hometown" is Karter's first song. She gained widespread attention after her phony tattoo went viral. Her single "Blast Off" was featured on the eleventh episode of Season 4 of the comedy-drama The Bold Type, which aired in 2019.
Her first full-length record, Missing Person, came out on October 2, 2020. In the wake of a breakup and the loss of a loved one, Karter wrote the album with the help of Zakk Cervini and Chris Greatti. "I was so depressed and broke and probably at the lowest point in my whole life," he says. I went through a period of disorientation that inspired the album's title, "Missing Person."
Her album's lead song, "God Knows I've Tried," was highlighted as a "Song You Need to Know" by Rolling Stone. Karter has led numerous tours of the United States and the United Kingdom as the frontwoman of her band, "Kelsy Karter & The Heroines," and produced many of the accompanying music videos.
