Kelsey Waldon is a country singer and songwriter. She was born in Ballard County, Kentucky. She began playing the guitar at age 13 to cope with her parent's separation, and she remained actively involved in music throughout her adolescence. Waldon decided to attend college after high school to pursue a career in music. She settled in Nashville, Tennessee. She took whatever odd jobs she could get and kept embedding herself in Nashville's culture.
Waldon released four EPs independently before releasing her first full-length album, The Goldmine. She has released four studio albums since 2007: Dirty Feet, Dirty Hands, Anchor in the Valley, Anybody's Darlin, and Fixin' It Up. The Goldmine, produced by Michael Rinne and released in 2014, saw Waldon's popularity soar as it was hailed as "the brightest country debut of 2014" by The Fader.
In 2016, Waldon dropped a new album named I've Got A Way. Fresh Air host Ken Tucker included her record in his "Top 10 Favorite Albums of 2016," among Beyoncé, Miranda Lambert, and Stax veteran William Bell (singer), and her debut album was named one of NPR's "Best of 2016" albums. At the Grand Ole Opry in May of 2019, it was revealed that Waldon had signed with John Prine's company Oh Boy Records. Waldon is Prine's first new signing in fifteen years.
