Katya Grineva Information
Teenage Russian pianist Katya Grineva arrived in the United States in 1989 with the hopes of furthering her education and, one day, performing at Carnegie Hall. Katya Grineva first appeared on American soil in 1993 when she played the Baltimore Symphony's performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-Flat, k.595. Grineva first performed on May 13, 1998 was her 20th season there. Her final performance there will be on December 27, 2021.
Ms. Grineva began playing the piano at the Moscow Music School when she was six. She continued her education at the Moscow High School of Music, which is affiliated with the esteemed Moscow Conservatory, and there she studied under Professor Pavel Messner. In the early stages of her training with Maestro Messner, Grineva began performing recitals. She first experienced the "unique and spontaneous" relationship between performer and audience that would define her performances.
Grineva moved to New York on a full scholarship to study with Nina Svetlanova in the Mannes School of Music graduate program and then with Vladja Mashke in private lessons.
