Kat Perkins Information
Kat Perkins (December 23, 1980) is an American singer and songwriter originally from Scranton, North Dakota. Her music is defined as pop, blues, country, and rock. Perkins used to sing harmonies as a child and took piano lessons with her sister, Kelly. Perkins started to perform when she was 15. She graduated from high school in 1999 and soon joined the Medora Musical, a musical production performed in North Dakota. Perkins moved to Twin Cities, Minnesota, to attend cosmetology school while also working at Hey City Theater Productions.
Perkins fronted Scarlet Haze, a band from Twin Cities, Minnesota. The group opened for Bon Jovi in 2005 at the Target Center. She had vocal cords surgery, which resulted in a hiatus of 3 years in her career. During the break, she traveled to the Middle East with some other musicians in 2013 to entertain American Military Troops. Perkins was selected to audition for season 6 of The Voice in 2013.
“Fearless” was the first single by Perkins, released in August 2014. It was followed by “Drive” 2015 and “Angels” 2016. Some of her other notable EPs include A Kat Perkins Christmas 2015, A Kat Perkins Christmas, Vol. II 2016, and Fearless 2014. Perkins earned a Grammy nomination for “Fearless” in the category of “Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.”
