Kastra Information
Kastra is an American music producer, DJ, and songwriter. He was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey. His education includes a BA in marketing from B.Y.U. and an MBA from Quinnipiac University. At a young age, he was influenced by the local hard rock and heavy metal scene, and he began playing electric guitar in several bands. Instead of picking up the guitar again after his return, he dove headfirst into electronic music creation, where he could create a complete song from scratch.
Under the moniker Kastra, the producer began releasing mashups and illegal remixes in 2011. Early mashups he made frequently ranked among Hype Machine's top five. The videos were also shared on well-known YouTube channels, including Proximity. Antiblaze Records published Kastra's debut originals, "Hold A Light" and "Warning," in 2012. On the Disco Fries' Liftoff Recordings label in 2014, he dropped the tune "Dolla Bilz."
Among the "10 Most Underrated Acts You Need To Know for 2015," Electric Family included Kastra. Starting with "Placebo" on Hussle Recordings and continuing with "Twilight Zone" with Fatman Scoop, he released a series of Melbourne bounce singles. In 2015, "Placebo" was featured in the Ministry of Sound Australia Clubbers Guide collection. That same year, he teamed up with DJ BL3ND to release the single "Boomshakalaka."
