Justine Indira Skyers (August 24, 1995) is an American singer. She is professionally known by her stage name, Justine Skye. She was born to Jamaican parents in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York City. Skye rose to prominence in her teens after accompanying her mother to a BMI Skye surprised the panel by singing during the Q&A. She sang “Black and Gold,” a rendition of Sam Sparro’s song.
Skye began her professional singing career by performing songs to accompany the book “Rules To Rock By.” She is well-known for her cover of Drake’s “Headlines,” which has earned over 2 million views on YouTube. She released her debut mixtape in 2012 entitled Sky High. Her song “Trippin” was featured on the mixtape and gained much attention.
She departed Atlantic in 2016 and joined Roc Nation and Republic Records. Her EP 8 Ounces, which featured musicians including Wale, was released in December 2016. She caused a stir in October 2017 when she kneeled during a segment of her performance of the National Anthem during a Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, New York.
Skye’s debut album, Ultraviolet, was released on January 18, 2018. “U Don’t Know” (featuring Wizkid), “Back for More” (featuring Jeremih), and “Don’t Think About It” were among the album’s singles. On the same day as the pre-order, December 8, the music video for “Don’t Think About It” was released, and the song “Good Love” became available with the album pre-order.
