Julien K Information
Julien-K is a rock band based in Long Beach, California. The group was initiated as a side project for electronic music created by Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh from Orgy. The current lineup of the band includes Ryan Shuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and keyboards), Amir Derakh (lead guitar, samples, synthesizers, and keyboards), Anthony 'Fu' Valcic (samples, programming, keyboards, and bass), Elias' Bones' Rodriguez (live drums, backing vocals), and Bidi Cobra (keyboards, bass, and backing vocals).
The name of the band originates from the movie American Gigolo. There was a character in the film named Julian Kaye, played by Richard Gere. The band has been actively playing since 2003 and released its debut studio album entitled "Death to Analog" on March 10, 2009, which was mixed by Tim Palmer. On January 23, 2012, the band released its second studio album entitled "We're Here With You."
Julien-K released its third album, "California Noir," in two chapters as a double album. Chapter one was entitled "California Noir: Analog Beaches & Digital Cities," while chapter two was named "California Noir: Nightlife in Neon," released in August 2016.
Julien-K has worked with a few record labels, including Metropolis Records, Level 7, and Circuit Freq Records. The band's most recent album is Harmonic Disruptor, which was released on April 17, 2020. The group also released a four-disc 64-track set of previously unreleased material entitled "Time Capsule: A Future Retrospective."
