John Hiatt Information
John Robert Hiatt (August 20, 1952) is an American singer and songwriter. At eighteen, Hiatt uprooted his life and headed to Nashville, Tennessee, where he landed work as a songwriter for the Tree-Music Publishing Company, earning $25 per week. Hiatt had to record each of the 250 songs he composed for the business by hand because he couldn't read or write music charts. Along with being one of three singer-songwriters in the band White Duck, he joined the group in 1972.
Taking its title from Hiatt's song "Feels Like Rain," the sixth episode of Treme's second season featured his performance at The House of Blues. On May 29, 2011, the show went air. Hon. Hiatt honored Bonnie Raitt with the Americana Lifetime Achievement Award on September 12, 2012. They shared a duet of "Thing Called Love" throughout the ceremony. Terms of My Surrender, Hiatt's 22nd studio album, was released on July 15, 2014. He was nominated for two Grammys for it.
New West Records released Hiatt's new studio album, The Eclipse Sessions, on October 12, 2018. Over four days in the summer of 2017, which coincided with the August 21 solar eclipse, he recorded his first album in four years. Hiatt recorded the album with Patrick O'Hearn on bass, Kenneth Blevins on drums, and Hiatt on guitar.
