John Fullbright Information
John Fullbright (April 23, 1988) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter born in Okemah, Oklahoma. His music is defined as folk, pop, rock, and Americana. Fullbright began to play the piano when he was only five. At nine years old, he started to take piano lessons while attending the public school in his hometown. He graduated from Okemah High School and briefly attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. While Fullbright was in school, he performed in an Okemah restaurant for which he borrowed an amplifier from the school band. He soon dropped out of college to work with Mike McClure, a musician, appearing on McClure's 2008 release did7.
A year later, after working with McClure, Fullbright began his solo career. He entered the music industry as a member of the Turnpike Troubadours band that also originated from the Okemah area. He performed for the first time at The Blue Door venue in Oklahoma City in April 2008.
From the Ground Up was the debut release by Fullbright that came out on May 8, 2012. The album was mixed and recorded at 115 Recording in Norman, Oklahoma, earning positive reviews from the music critics. In October of the same year, Fullbright delivered a performance at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute concert that was meant to honor Chuck Berry. Fullbright won an Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Rising Star Award in 2014 and an ASCAP Harold Adamson Lyric Award in 2012. He was also nominated at the 55th Grammy Awards and Americana Music Association.
