Joan Shelley (1985) is an American folk musician. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Shelley has released several studio recordings since she started her musical career. The most notable single in her career is entitled “Cost of the Cold” in 2015 under the record label, OK Recordings. Her debut album was a self-released album that she released in 2010 entitled “By Dawnlight.” She released her second album “Ginko” in 2012 on Ol Kentuck/OK Recordings. Her third studio album was with Daniel Martin Moore, entitled “Farthest Field.”
Joan Shelley’s associated acts include Nathan Salsburg, Maiden Radio, Will Oldham, Bonnie Prince Billy, Jeff Tweedy, and Tyler Ramsey. With Maiden Radio, Shelley released three projects, including Maiden Radio (2010), Lullabies (2011), and Wolvering (2015).
Shelley has worked with different record labels so far, including No Quarter and Ol Kentuck/OK Recordings. She has also worked on a Bandcamp to release one of her albums entitled “Rivers & Vessels.” Her other studio albums include Electric Ursa (2014), Over and Even (2015), and Live the River Loves the Sea (2019).
