James Blake Information
James Blake Litherland (September 26, 1988) is an English singer-songwriter and record producer born in Enfield, London. He gained attention with a string of EPs in 2010, including CMYK and Klavierwerke. Later, he released his debut album to widespread acclaim the following year. After receiving widespread acclaim for his 2013 sophomore effort, Overgrown, he was eventually honored with the prestigious Mercury Prize.
After releasing 2016's The Color in Anything, he followed it up with 2019's Assume Form, 2021's Friends That Break Your Heart, and 2023's Playing Robots Into Heaven for his sixth album.
Along with Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Rosala, JID, Dave, Beyoncé, Vince Staples, and Travis Scott, Blake has worked with musicians such as Mount Kimbie, Bon Iver, and Metro Boomin. He is the recipient of a Latin Grammy Award, a Brit Award, a Mercury Prize, and six Grammy Award nominations, including one for Best New Artist in 2014. In addition, he has been nominated for three Brit Awards.
In 2020, Blake issued several new singles, one of which was titled "You're Too Precious," in addition to the Before EP in October.
Playing Robots Into Heaven, Blake's sixth album, was released on September 8, 2023. The album has been praised for its "return to roots" by critics thanks to its blend of electronic, dance, and experimental music. "Big Hammer" was the debut single, released on June 28, 2023. Oscar Hudson made a music video with a robbery motif that centers on three masked thieves in white tracksuits.
