J Dawg Information
Garden City, Texas native J-Dawg (born Larry Wayne Jones, Jr.) got his start in the music industry as a member of Swishahouse and later the Boss Hogg Outlaws. The Boss Hogg Outlaws were a group of Houston-based rappers led by Slim Thug, including J-Dawg, Slim Thug, Young Von, C. Ward, and others.
Throughout the 2000s and into the early 2010s, J-Dawg was a regular member of the Boss Hogg Outlaws, making appearances on multiple albums and guest-starring on songs by Southern rap legends like Chamillionaire and Pimp C. J-Dawg's first solo mixtape, Behind Tint, Vol. 1, was released in 2008, after he had spent several years as a supporting role or as part of a larger crew. The record, staying true to its Houston rap heritage, came in both straight and "screwed" forms.
The mixtape's success spawned several sequels, including 2010's Behind Tint, Vol. 2, and 2011's Still Behind Tint. J-Dawg, now a seasoned veteran of the industry, kept at it with albums and mixtapes like 2015's Connected and Respected, Vol. 1, and 2016's Dark Days Bright Nights, a collaboration with Underboss.
