Herman’s Hermits is a beat rock band that was formed in 1964 in Manchester, which was originally named “Herman & the Hermits.” Harvey Lisberg formed the group, and he assigned himself as the manager of the group. The current lineup includes Barry Whitwam (drums), Geoff Foot (bass and lead vocals), Tony Hancox (vocals and keyboards), and Ray Frost (backing vocals and lead guitar). Herman’s Hermits has worked with record labels Columbia (EMI) and MGM. The first hit by the band was “I’m Into Something Good,” which was a cover song of Earl Jean. The song reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and number 13 in the US.
Herman’s Hermits released its self-titled debut album in 1965. The band has released many extended plays throughout the years, including Hermania (January 1965), Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter (June 1965), Herman’s Hermits Hits (September 1965), A Must to Avoid (February 1966), Hold On! (June 1966), Dandy (April 1967), and The London Look (1968).
Herman’s Hermits have released countless notable singles including “Show Me Girl” (1964), “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat” (1965), “I’m Henry VIII, I Am” (1965), “You Won’t Be Leaving” (1966), and “Leaning on the Lamp Post” (1966). Their notable studio albums include Herman’s Hermits on Tour (June 1965), When the Boys Meet the Girls (May 1966), Both Sides of Herman’s Hermits (October 1966), and There’s A Kind of Hush All Over the World (May 1967).
