Helena Hauff Information
Helena Hauff is a German record producer and DJ. She was born in Hamburg, Germany. Her "stripped-down techno and electro tracks" take cues from acid house, EBM, and industrial music, and she records them using only analog gear.
Hauff, who has a background in visual art, physics, and systematic music science, has also worked as a DJ at the Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg, where she organized a night called Birds and Other Instruments. In 2013, she dropped her first EP, titled Actio Reactio. Her first full-length album, Discreet Desires, was published by Werkdiscs records in 2015, following several EPs and singles on various labels (including James Dean Brown's Hypnobeat). Rolling Stone ranked the album as number 19 on their list of the "20 Best EDM & Electronic Albums of 2015."
To her credit, she made history in December 2017 when she received BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix of the Year honor, becoming the first female DJ to do so. She is in charge of her label, Return to Disorder. Hauff joined artists including Diplo, Dubfire, Modeselektor, and more at the 2018 Movement Festival in Detroit on May 26–28. Among Movement, Hunee, Midland, and many more, Hauff performed at the 2018 AVA Festival in Belfast.
