Heaven 17 Information
Heaven 17 is an English new wave and synth-pop band that was formed in Sheffield in 1980. The band started as a trio that consisted of Glenn Gregory (vocals), Ian Craig Marsh (keyboards), and Martyn Ware (keyboards). Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh were the founding members of the pioneering British group called the “Human League.” Later on, the band transformed into Heaven 17 and also formed the production company named British Electric Foundation (BEF).
The BEF recorded their first cassette-only album entitled “Music For Stowaways” and an LP entitled “Music For Listening To.” Heaven 17 has worked with a few record labels such as EMI, Sony BMG, and Virgin. The band undertook a dual headline tour with their British Electronic Foundation co-parts. Dates of the tour included multiple venues such as London, Basingstoke, Bury St Edmunds, Manchester, Gateshead, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Liverpool.
Heaven 17 announced another short tour in May 2018. This time, they visited Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, London, Liverpool, and Sheffield. The group took part as special guests on “The Difford And Tillbrook Songbook” 2019 tour. Heaven 17 has released a few live albums so far, including Live at Last (1999), Live at Scala, London 29 November 2005 (2005), Live From Metropolis Studios (2013), and Live at the Jazz Café (2015). Their notable studio albums include Penthouse and Pavement (1981), How Men Are (1984), Pleasure One (1986), and Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho (1988).
