Heather Maloney Information
Heather Maloney (December 4, 1985) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Hamburg, New Jersey. Maloney studied classical operatic singing, music theory, and improvisational jazz vocals early. Maloney lived and worked at a silent meditation retreat center located in Barre, Massachusetts, from 2006 to 2009. She took vows of silence for days at a time. She explained that silence helped her discover the songwriting skill that she possesses. She even wrote her first-ever song while living in the retreat center.
Maloney self-released her debut album entitled Cozy Razor’s Edge in 2009. The album was followed by Time & Pocket Change, released in 2011. She signed a record deal in 2012 with Northampton-based label Signature Sounds Recordings. She released Heather Maloney, her self-titled album in 2013, Woodstock in 2014, Making Me Break-in 2015, and Just Enough Sun in 2018. In 2019, Maloney released her full-length album entitled, Soil in the Sky.
The New York Times blog featured Maloney in December 2013. They wrote about her and shared a video of Maloney performing her record “Woodstock” along with Darlingside. In that blog, she was also compared with Mitchell. She then released a collaborative EP with the Boston quartet, Darlingside. They both also embarked on a nationwide tour right after releasing the EP.
