Hawktail is an American band that consists of bassist Paul Kowert, fiddler Brittany Haas, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie. The group is said to be capable of blazing their trail because the members successfully challenge traditional roles of their respective instruments and genres.
"Unless" was the debut album by Hawktail that took around three years, and in 2004, the group released a self-titled album that instantly became the touchstone for a generation of old-time fiddlers. The same year, Hawktail released another album entitled You Got This. The collection displays a breadth of insight and ambition, which was rarely heard on a band's debut. The most recent album by Hawktail is entitled Formations. The album was released on January 10th, 2020, and took only two months to write and four days to record.
Fans of Hawktail seem to notice a slight change in the energy that each instrument brings. The band members are said to be well versed in old-time traditions, while their sound is always fresh, lively, and consequential. The group members also share astonishing chemistry on stage.
