Gretchen Frances Wilson (June 26, 1973) is an American country artist. She was born in Pocahontas, Illinois. In March 2004, Wilson made her debut with a Grammy-Award winning single entitled “Redneck Woman.” It was also the number one hit on the Billboard country charts. Wilson also used this song as the lead-off single for her debut album “Here for the Party.”
In 2003, Wilson signed with Epic Records and recorded her debut album. ‘Redneck Woman” was released as a lead single in 2004, reaching the top of the Hot Country Songs charts and number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. She released her second album entitled “All Jacked Up” on September 27, 2005. The album reached number 1 on the Country album and the Top 200 charts. It also sold over 1 million copies.
Wilson’s third album came out on May 15, 2007, entitled “One of the Boys.” It debuted at number 5 on the Top 200 and number 1 on the Country album chart. Her single “Don’t Do Me No Good” that she released on July 14, 2008, was intended to be the lead single for her fourth studio album, but her record was delayed due to some reasons.
Wilson has been nominated several times in the Grammy Awards, but she won only once, and that was for the “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” for her single “Redneck Woman.” Her other studio albums include One of the Boys (2007), I Got Your Country Right Here (2010), Right on Time (2013), Under the Covers (2013), and Ready to Get Ready (2017).
