House music is in Gene Farris' blood. He is a true musical icon in Chicago, having spent nearly three decades working with the industry's most prominent musicians and labels. His career began in the early 1990s, when he spun at underground warehouse events, and has since progressed through the ranks.
Over the past few years, Gene Farris's work has been released and supported by various labels, including Toolroom, Relief, Dirtybird, Spinnin' Deep, ViVa Music, and Defected, as well as his own Farris Wheel imprint. His breakthrough came with his own Farris Wheel Recordings label. However, he did notable work as an engineer and producer for Cajual, Relief Records, Defected Records, Soma Recordings, and others.
We Work It on Farris Wheel, Nursery on Toolroom, Space Girl on Dirtybird, 'Play' on Snatch!, 'LOL' on Relief, and 'Move Your Body,' one of the biggest club tracks of 2015, are examples of his extensive and creative discography. Gene's 'Welcome To Chicago EP,' which came out on Defected Records in 2003 and rapidly became a cult classic, was similarly amazing.
