Gareth Emery Information
Gareth Thomas Rhys Emery (July 8, 1980) is a British DJ and trance producer from Southampton, Hampshire. He is also known as Rue De Gar, GTR, and Runaways. He is the brother of singer-songwriter Roxanne Emery. The family moved to Manchester, England, when Emery turned 26. He owned a studio, a record label, and a nightclub in Manchester, both named Garuda. Gareth Emery earned a degree in Politics from the University of Warwick. He is well trained in classical piano, although his music is classified as progressive house and trance.
Before getting involved in electronic music, Emery used to play the guitar in a punk band. He debuted with a vinyl release in early 2002. It was a white label remix of The Shrink's "Nervous Breakdown." GTR – "Mistral" was the third release by him that is considered as his career-launching track. Some of his other hit singles released include "The Verdict" (2006), "Another You, Another Me" (2006), "More Than Anything" (2007), "Metropolis" (2009), "On a Good Day (Metropolis)" (2010), "Into the Light" (2011), and "This Is All Out" (2012). Different genres of electronic dance music heavily influence his current production style.
Emery has released five compilation mix CDs, including The Podcast Annual (2007), The Five AM Sessions (2005), and The Sound Of Garuda (2009). His notable studio albums are Northern Lights (2010) and 100 Reasons to Live (2016). He also produced a podcast since 2006 entitled 'Gareth Emery Podcast.' This podcast has been nominated thrice at the Miami Winter Music Conference's International Dance Music Awards.
