Frank Robert Ballard IV (December 16, 1982) is an American country music singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. Ballard began playing baseball at Mott Community College. He started pursuing college baseball by taking part in the NCAA with Western Michigan University. Ballard signed up for the Next Big Star competition of Kenny Chesney in the summer of 2008. He won that competition, and after that, he opened shows for Chesney himself at Michigan venues.
In 2010, Ballard signed a record deal with Reprise Records in Nashville. He released his debut single on the label entitled “Tell Me You Get Lonely.” The single received a four-star review from Kyle Ward. The song also reached number 59 on the Hot Country Songs. In early 2011, it peaked at number 33. Ballard also made his debut appearance at Grand Ole Opry on January 7, 2011.
In early 2011, Ballard released his second single entitled “A Buncha Girls.” The same year, he opened for Lady Antebellum. Ballard signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records in 2013 and released his third single, “Helluva Life,” which became his first number 1 single in early 2014. Ballard released his self-titled debut album on May 24, 2011. Other studio albums include Sunshine & Whiskey (February 11, 2014) and El Rio (June 10, 2016).
Ballard’s notable singles include “You’ll Accompany Me,” “Cigarette,” “It All Started with a Bear,” and “Young & Crazy.”
