FloydFest Information
FloydFest is a world art and music festival held annually in New Floyd, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The event originated in 2002 and takes place for five days each year with multiple stages that feature world music performers of various genres. The festival provides music and features poetry readings, storytelling, morning yoga lessons, dance workshops, and even local arts and crafts.
FloydFest features a different theme every year. Past year themes were Floyd County World Music Festival (2002), Out Of This World Music (2003), Midsummer’s Dream (2004), Rock of Ages (2005), Revolutionary (2014), Fire on the Mountain (2015), Dreamweavin’ (2016), Freedom (2017), Wild (2018), and Voyage Home (2019).
Notable performers who have taken part in the festival include Doc Watson, John Scofield, Sam Bush, The Neville Brother, David Grisman Quintet, The Hackensaw Boys, Old & In the Gray, Steep Canyon Rangers, Asylum Street Spankers, and Discordian Society.
FloydFest was voted as “Best Large Music Venue in Southwestern Virginia” by Virginia Living. Virginia Senator Mark Warner also praised the festival as an epicenter of culture for Southwest Virginia.
