The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, which has been going strong since 1957, is routinely named among the best of its kind in the country's area orchestra circuit. The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra's (FSO) primary goal is to excite and involve listeners from all walks of life throughout Northern Virginia and beyond.
It achieves this by putting on world-class performances, expanding its educational reach to include low-income students in programs that expand students' access to education and boost their academic success, and bolstering the quality of life for locals through outreach and engagement initiatives. For its outstanding educational collaboration with the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the FSO was awarded the FCPS Community Partner of the Year Award in recognition of its 40 years of service.
The FSO's mission since its beginning has been twofold: to establish itself as a preeminent concert ensemble and to share its expertise, creativity, and dedication to the great art form that is classical music with the residents of Fairfax County and its future generations. The Florida Symphony Orchestra (FSO), led by music director Christopher Zimmerman, continues to be recognized as one of the best regional ensembles in the United States.
