Eric Church (May 3, 1977) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born in Granite Falls, North Carolina. He got a guitar when he was 13 and started creating songs soon after. During his final year of high school, he spent much of his time working at a local bar. He covered Jimmy Buffett tunes in seedy watering holes and performed several compositions. Both the time and the means to focus on honing his songwriting skills were gifts from his father.
Eric Church's sound mixed country with rock, and his voice had a rough edge that made him stand out. Fans loved his honest lyrics and how he told stories in his songs. He wasn’t trying to be like anyone else; he just did his own thing, which worked.
Before Chief, Church had already started building a strong fan base. His first two albums, Sinners Like Me and Carolina, had songs like “How 'Bout You” and “Love Your Love the Most.” Even back then, people noticed he was different. He sang about real life, working hard, breaking rules, falling in love, and dealing with loss. Over time, his music kept growing, and so did his crowd. He became known for his live shows, often playing for hours and giving fans everything he had. He’s worked with artists like Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, and Miranda Lambert, but he’s always followed his path.
In 2025, Church will perform a special set of shows at his new venue, Chief’s, in downtown Nashville. The six-story bar, which opened this year, includes live music, rooftop views, and a whole floor dedicated to his career. He’ll play multiple nights in the main concert hall, giving fans an up-close show they can’t get anywhere else. This year is about doing it his way, up close, live, and straight from the heart.
