One of her generation's most exciting and highly praised artists, Emily D'Angelo, has continued her meteoric rise since the New York Times hailed her as "one of the world's special young singers." The only singer to ever receive the Schleswig Holstein Festival's Leonard Bernstein Award, the mezzo-soprano was hailed by The New York Times as "wondrous and powerful" in a review of her recent US recital debut.
D'Angelo made her stage debut at the age of 21 as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi. She was awarded the 2016 Monini Prize and named a 2020 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist, one of Canada's "Top 30 Under 30" Classical Musicians, and one of WQXR NYC Public Radio's "40 Under 40" singers to watch. In a season almost completely devoted to Handel, Emily D'Angelo will debut in several exciting roles and at a new home in 2022–2023.
She kicks off the season at London's Royal Opera House, performing the part of Ruggiero in "Alcina." The mezzo-soprano will debut as Ariodante in Handel's Ariodante at the Paris Opera, and she will debut as Juno in Semele at the Munich State Opera's summer festival performance.
