DJ Questlove Information
Ahmir Khalib Thompson (January 20, 1971) is an American film director, music journalist, author, disc jockey, songwriter, and musician. He was born in Philadelphia and is best known by his professional name, Questlove. He is also known for being the drummer and the joint frontman for the hip-hop band called the Roots. The band has been performing as the in-house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, since February 17, 2014. He is also one of the producers of the cast album of the Broadway musical Hamilton.
Questlove has also co-founded the websites Okayplayer and OkayAfrica. He teaches at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University as an adjunct professor.
Questlove has produced recordings for several big names throughout his career, such as John Legend, Amy Winehouse, Al Green, Booker T. Jones, Nikka Costa, Jay-Z, Bilal, and Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, D'Angelo, Common, and Elvis Costello. Questlove is also a member of the production teams, including the Grand Wizards, the Grand Negaz, the Soultronics, the Randy Watson Experience, and the Soulquarians.
Questlove has worked in many films, including Bamboozled (2000), Brooklyn Babylon (2001), Before the Music Dies (2006), The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 (2011), and many others.
